E3. Visit an exhibition and review it. Present your review on your blog.

Visit the Tauranga Art Gallery and write a review about it:

This is part of the Atrium
On Tuesday the 30th of April me and my mum went to the Tauranga art gallery and looked at the art. We looked at the Atrium, Gallery 1& the Volt, Long & Window Gallery amd the Cube. The Atrium with so they say was a one-off  exhibition of work designed specifically for the gallery. In North Canterbury Wayne Youle one of the artists a lover of text with stories to tell with them created the idea. The painting took a team of three and took a full week to make.

This is Alfred Cameron with his art
Gallery One & The Vault  hell here and now: As a young farmer living in Wellington Alfred Cameron began a visual dairy of how he wanted to make art. He created a visual diary of his trip to Gallipoli so he would be able to present his pictures his way in art. He created the art work with a Founitin pen so that people at home would think of his art in lots of other forms. He thought it would be a insperation to others to make theie peice of work the own way.

This is one peice of the selection I looked at
Long & Window gallery now and then: The art traverses everywhere over New Zealand fine art photography and themes of which have surfaced over four decadeds to push the boundaries.
Now and Then  is grouped into six themes including sense of place (landscape), bloom bloom bang (aspects of the natural world), and idols & icons (symbolic objects and creatures).
This is one house this artist has painted

The Cube with the state of house: This is an exhibition of New York by a tauranga artist Raye Catran. She was inspired by a life long interest of houses and who lives in them. Most of her artwork are of New Zealand looking state houses and urban landscapes. With winning the Ethal McMillan award in the mile art category  last year for her work she is inspired to keep doing more.

I think that the gallery was amazing and the artwork was so impressive. I loved all the art work but I liked the Atrium so they say the best becasuse it was bright and unique with all different types of peices mixed into one.

Nasa Finds Earth Like Planet

N.A.S.A scientist have found two planets that are just like Earth. The planets are both not too hot and not too cold. Scientists do not know yet if they are capable to live on on. They have called it Kepler62e. N.A.S.A has sent the biggest camera into space to see for other planets as small as Earth. Astronomers detected the planet by observing the stardim when the planets passed each other. I think that it is very cool and exciting that someone found other planets. I am so excited to see if they are capable to live on.

The company Samsung has created the biggest smart phone and it's called the Galaxy mega phone.  The company made a 6.3 inch screen which makes it easier to watch videos and apps at the same time. It would be able to fit in the tablet catergory because it is so big. Samsung said the phone will be able to in our pocket only just. They are planning to make a 5.8 inch phone for smaller people. I think that it is cool because it would be so big.

Plane Crash Off Runway In Bali

A plane in Bali has crashed into the sea after missing the runway. There were 101 passengers on board and dozens injured. It was the Lion airways. The plane was trying to land on Denparsar Ngurah Ria international airport but missed because of the planes fuselage had split into two lines. I think that it is so sad that something would happen and people would get hurt.

Mother Assults Police With Quiche

A mother in New South Wales has been found guilty by police for assaulting a police officer with a quiche. Franklin James Bugmy was approched by police for havoc but she didnt want to be so she ramed her babys pram at him and threw a quiche at him. She later got taken into court and she is still waiting for her sentence. I think that is so silly that she would do it.

Orangutans Rescued In Borneo

Thirty baby orangutans have been rescued from Borneo. Their mothers and fathers have been killed by hunters in the deep forests. International animal rescuers found them living in shacks and have been moved to west Kalimantan. There is only 50,000 left in the world so they are trying to keep them safe. They are the worlds most endangered species and people use them for house pets which is silly. I think that is is sad that hunters kill babies and their parents.

Service Homework Challenge S1

Visit an elderly:
I have visited my neighbour Judi and help her fix her printer so she could move to Australia. She was having trouble scanning her license and her passport. I went over and made sure her printer was working. She is moving to christchurch so she could be close to her family when she is sick. She has given us clothes from all over the world and lots of other stuff. I have helped her with alot of stuff like packing. With her heart condition she can't really go anywhere because she is very old and saw when she walks. When she moves she cant take anything because of the fees to transport

She is a nice lady and she is very helpful. She is moving because she is quite sick and she needs support. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer and heart problems. She has been cured but she still has chances of getting breast cancer again. Through out her living next to us she has been in hospital heaps and we have supported her so much. She is so generous to me and she gives me Christmas presents. I love her and I will miss her so much when she goes. She goes on the 28th of April which is not very far away. She has photos of me when I was little. I have visited 8 times helping her pack clean her stuff and helping her alround with everything so I will cry.

Academic homework challenge 2

Complete a random grid in under 3 minutes
In room 42 this year we have a homework challenge that is to complete a 12x12 grid in under 3 minutes. The 12x12 grid is pretty much a test on your times tables because you write in all of your times tables. Its called a 12x12 grid because there are 12 Columns in the grid and you have to write down all the answers for each times table. You have to answer questions like 9x9 5x4.When you finished you have to put your hand up and say time.

I think that it was cool that we did this and I want to keep doing it because it is fun and educational. I completed it in 2 minutes and 47 secound which is really good for me. I still want to improve time so I am practicing at home in my own time when I am not busy.My quickest time is 2 minutes and 34 secounds but that was at home.

Homework Expectations

Amount
We think that 30-45 minutes every weeknight is a reasonable expectation for homework. Per week that equals approximately 2.5 hours per week of homework.
2 terms = 20 weeks. Every homework task should take you 5 hours to do.

Quality
You need to work on each homework task for at least 2.5 to 5 hours. It should like it was done by a year 8 student. The product you make (if relevant) should look good quality.

Blog Post
- must be at least 2 paragraphs
- has to be punctuated correctly, spell checked and no errors
- you must include which category and task number in your post title so Miss C can sign you off.

International Cat Beauty Competition

On the ninth of April there was a cat beauty competition. It was in Romania but everyone in the world could enter. The most common cat that was there was the sphinx cat which is worth five thousand dollars. The judges thought none of the cats were pretty enough to be in the competition . There is not not a decision of what cat is the most beautiful.
My opinion is that it is crazy that the make there cats beautiful for a trophy.

World Pillow Fight Day

On the sixth of April it was world pillow fight day. That means everybody hit each other with pillows. It was all over the world with many countries included. It was created so everyone could  mix and mingle. Everyone thought it was so fun because they made new friends. It lasted for 1 hour so people could go crazy. Nobody was hurt and they weren't allowed to use heavy pillows because people would target each other. If anyone hurt anybody hit people to hard they got in trouble.
I think that would be a great idea because people would be connecting with each other.

Student Led confrences

On Thursday the 4 on April I had my student led conference. I had to lead it and it was pretty good. My mum came and I showed her all my work. She was happy what I have done. My results are good apart from writing which are just below the year 8 standard. This is my mum and I at the interviews.
